June 18, 2025 – Trail users are reminded that Doube’s Bridge is closed and not to be used. We anticipate the bridge repairs will commence shortly. In the meantime, please keep off the bridge until the repairs are fully completed.

June 2, 2025 – We are pleased to inform the trail community that due to funding from several sources the cost of repairs to Doube’s Bridge has been secured.  We are grateful for the support from The Kelly Family Foundation and The Barron Cowan Foundation.  Haig Kelly and Barron Cowan have been long-time supporters of the Kawartha Trans Canada Trail and we thank them for their continued support.  The Trans Canada Trail national office is also providing financial support to ensure the repairs are completed to the historic bridge.  Many others have provided their support for the trail through their volunteer efforts during the recent ice storm clean up and we thank you for your continued support.  We are hopeful the bridge repairs will commence later this month and will be complete within a month. We will provide more information when the repairs commence.

March 19, 2025 – Partial funding from the Trans Canada Trail national office has been secured for the repairs to Doube’s Bridge. The Association has contacted a contractor who will be attending the site to confirm the repair costs and the time frame required to undertake them. We are hopeful repairs will commence in May 2025. Thank you to all who continue to contribute to the bridge repairs. It is greatly appreciated. We will provide an additional update when the repairs commence and we ask all trail users to not use the bridge at this time.

September 23, 2024 – An engineering firm has been secured to assess the fire damage to the bridge to determine the extent of the structural damage and repair requirements. The representatives were at the site this week and we are expecting a detailed assessment in the coming days. We extend a big thank you to all who have come forward with donations for the repair to this historic landmark and for your words of support. It is greatly appreciated. We will provide additional information as it becomes known!
