the great trail treasure hunt

The Great Trail Treasure Hunt is finally upon us! The hunt begins Wednesday June 19th and runs until Sunday August 18th! Grab your friends, gear up and join with other Canadians in hunting for over 200 treasures across Canada. Win amazing prizes by discovering hidden boxes along The Great Trail, the longest recreational trail in the world!

As part of the Great Trail Treasure Hunt, we’ve hidden a GPS cache somewhere along the trail. Here’s how to find it and enter! You can also follow the link below for more information.

  1. Find a box on the Trail (you can find the location by visiting the Treasure Hunt website).
  2. Take a photo/selfie with the box in its location.
  3. Claim your prize by entering the box’s redemption code on TheGreatTrailTreasureHunt.ca.
  4. To boost your chance of winning a prize, post a photo of the box to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #GreatTrailTreasure
  5. Even if you are not the first to find a treasure box, you can still enter!
  6. There is also an essay entry option for those who cannot access the trail.

BACKGROUND:
Trans Canada Trail: It began as a bold dream in 1992: the idea of creating a trail that would be a gift from Canadians to Canadians. Since then, TCT – a not-for-profit organization – has been working with donors, partners, governments and volunteers to create The Great Trail; an epic trail of trails offering a wide range of outdoor experiences on both land and water routes. Every Canadian province and territory is home to its own stretch of The Great Trail, which is owned and operated at the local level. TCT’s goal is to have The Great Trail connected from coast to coast to coast in 2017, for Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation celebrations.
